(Caution: Some ramblings)
A universe that is created by some being(s) as a simulation to test the progress of a civilization, of a certain type of species, in a certain type of world.
This is the only explanation that works with both, religious AND scientific points of views:
A greater being(s) designed us and created us for a purpose. We could be made in their image.
The beings are more advanced than us but not necessarily beyond the 4th dimension of time, they could be the same dimension as us or they could be in a dimension we do not currently know about.
They created a simulation of the universe with certain (test) parameters.
I would assume their primary observational targets or interests would be our development of our understanding of the universe and of space.
The vastness of space and how drastically far the next closest anything significant is to Earth indicates a design that is purposely meant to prevent any direct contact or close research opportunities of basically all stellar entities.
This could indicate a possible testing point.
Anything that is difficult for a civilization could be considered a good point of observation.
Anything related to civilization-level advancement could be great points of observation.
Or they might be trying out various physics settings just for fun and life is just a byproduct.
All of these are things we would love to do as well, and would do in an instant given the chance.
So we could just be a simulation or test. Whether the test is for a research purpose or not, or whether the test cares about life at all would wholly depend on the creators and their intent at the time.
So hopefully they created us with good or awesome intentions and, more importantly, hopefully they don’t intend to close, stop, or destroy the simulation anytime soon.
This doesnt mean we arent real.
We are real. Just really a simulation.
